E3 2011: Day One: My Highlights
Halo
Microsoft announced the long anticapted Halo 4, plus a remake of the original game Halo Anniversery. looks like I'll finally be picking this up.
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Despite Ubisoft's press conference being a complete and utter joke, they did manage to show off a awasome trailer and demo for Assassin's Creed Revelations. That's some impressive looking CGI.
Uncharted 3
The best game of the day was, of course, Uncharted 3, which looks amazing as ever.
Star Trek
A new game based on the recent Star Trek movie was announced. What? A Star Trek game that's not a lame top down shooter?
Sony Vita
The biggest hightlight of the day for me, and my most anticipated thing of the entire show, was Sony's new handheld. The Sony Vita{which is still a lame name} will cost $249 for the Wi Fi verison and $300 for the 3G version. The Vita will have a touch screen, a rear touch pad, front and rear cameras, basically everything but the kitchen sink. Sony did do some demos of the games, most notably Uncharted Portable, which looks pretty good.

Review: X-men: First Class
Thankfully though, the good outweighs the bad. The movie is well paced with some GREAT action scenes{particularly that end battle}. James Mcavoy and Micheal Fasbender are excellent as Xaveir and Magneto. There's even a cameo by Hugh Jackman, which I know people are probably tired of Wolverine by now. But it's only like five seconds, and it is pretty funny.

In Defense Of Sony
Well, it's been almost two weeks, and the Playstation Network is still down. You know, I've always been a bit of Playstation fanboy{nothing against Microsoft of course...I think}, but I'm not much of a online gamer. This whole situation still sucks though. I've been wanting to sync my trophies, and then there's Netflix, which you have to log onto PSN to use{I know some have gotten it to work, but not me:{ } Thankfully Sony issued a apology today and said that they will be getting out some free content to all PSN users{yay for free content!}. Of course, there are still some idiots out there who are trying to sue Sony over this, which completely and utterly absurd. I mean, seriously? Now I don't like my personal info being out there, and I absolutely hate the way they've handled letting people know about that. But the PSN getting hacked was NOT Sony's fault. This sorta thing thing could happen to ANYONE. It could have been XBOX Live that was attacked instead of PSN{Heck, the same thing did happen to XBL a couple years back}. To think that people actually think Sony owes them something because they couldn't beat the crap out of their friends at a game of Mortal Kombat for a couple weeks is ridiculous. No, the real people they should be going after, the real persons to blame here, are the dumbos who caused this whole mess in the first place. Nothing will ever make up for the personal info being stolen. But I, for one, am happy Sony is at least attempting to make up for it.

SyFy Cancels Stargate Universe
Well, the gate has been closed on the Stargate franchise...for now anyway. It was announced today via Twitter that Syfy has cancelled Stargate Universe after only two seasons. This coming shortly after the BSG spin-off Caprica being cancelled. The remaining ten episodes will air in the spring.
This really sucks to be honest. I've been a Stargate fan for many years now, mostly Stargate SG1, and to a much lesser extent, Stargate Atlantis. And while this season of SGU has been losing me a bit, The first season was great. Plus, the show was moving into a somewhat interesting direction, a direction which will probably never be resolved{unless MGM decides to put out a Direct To DVD movie}. I also think that the way Syfy handled the cancellation was terrible. Apparently none of the actors were informed of the cancellation, and thus found out via Twitter, which is a HORRIBLE way to find out you're out of a job.
On the other hand, this news isn't all that surprising. The show has been averaging around 1 million viewers a week, and the move to Tuesdays nights didn't help at all.
Of course, I doubt this is the end of the Stargate franchise. After all, Stargate is MGM's biggest franchise behind James Bond, and even if Syfy doesn't want any more SG series, I'm sure MGM will want to exploit it beyond television. The next two Direct To DVD movies, Stargate: Extinction and Stargate: Revloution, have been on hold for some time now due to MGM's money problems. If those ever do get made{which hopefully they will}, maybe we could see a SGU movie at some point to tie up the series.
